Biography
Born in Washington D.C., Waleed moved to Europe to explore electronic music at night, whilst writing code by day. Immersing himself in the London and Berlin music scenes, his own production was heavily influenced by what he found there. In August 2021, Waleed quietly released his debut single ‘Se Rompen’. The response was anything but, with the track quickly receiving support from the likes of Ben-UFO, Floating Points and Four Tet.
Waleed’s sound is at once ecstatic and melancholic with abrupt drops; engineering an unexpected narrative for the listener. With influences ranging from UK House to sounds from Waleed’s own Puerto Rican-Iraqi heritage, his tracks are a layered tapestry of sounds and styles. Signing to City-Slang in 2022 Waleed is staking his claim as a producer who is undoubtedly one to watch.
