Anna B Savage live at The Barbican Conservatory

October 15, 2020

After recently sharing her new single "A Common Tern" and announcing her debut album 'A Common Turn' is set for release Jan 29th via City Slang, Anna B Savage is now sharing an intimate live version of the track filmed at the Barbican Conservatory in London.

Speaking about the performance, Savage said "I wrote the lyrics to 'A Common Tern' one night sat in Frobisher Crescent, the courtyard next to the Conservatory. I was unsigned, jaded, and convinced I’d never be able to write a full album. After I wrote the chorus, I knew I'd written the titular track. I sat alone in the dark wanting to scream with excitement: it could happen.

So, it’s probably no surprise that this was my favourite song we recorded in the Conservatory. It’s my most difficult to perform and we left it to last so I was tired. The personal gravitas of this moment can’t be overstated. I felt like I was standing shoulder to shoulder with the me on the other side of the glass who suddenly realised it could be done saying 'it was done, we did it'."
