Start/Stop/Rewind: New Track from COMA

January 06, 2021

Just in time for the celebration of a new year 2021 German electronic pop duo COMA return with one of their finest tracks yet “Start/Stop/Rewind” is the first song since their celebrated 2019 album ‘Voyage Voyage’ comes in two different version including a “Kosmik Disko Mix” and a stunning and surreal video by Janosch Pugnaghi.

Listen to “START STOP REWIND” HERE “This song is about challenges given by mood swings, about rituals, prevention and the soothing effect of starting (all over) again. The song was originally planned as a bonus single alongside our spring tour and festival summer, that both never happened. Yet we also think the song fits quite well to the beginning of a new year where maybe things can only get better. So with this track, we hope to transmit some good karma for a better 2021 and we both wish you a happy new year. Spread love and hope!”.

COMA fuse dance music’s communal properties with an indie sensibility. Rich in melody and melancholy, Voyage Voyage is the latest in COMA’s repertoire that occupies an emotionally-driven corner of the electronic music spectrum, where dynamic soundscapes collide with heartfelt lyrics.

COMA may have their roots firmly in Cologne’s fabled club scene but their effervescent, groove-tipped synth-pop blurs boundaries and strays outside the lines. After releasing a steady stream of records that includes their 2013 debut In Technicolor and 2015’s This Side of Paradise—featuring singles that earned praise from Pitchfork, XLR8R, Resident Advisor, and more—Bubat and Conrad released their last album Voyage Voyage in 2019 on City Slang. Across 10 pristine tracks, the pair meld piano, guitar, drums, synths, and electronic flourishes with futuristic vocal harmonies, which amp up the melancholic pop factor and capture life’s fleeting moments, moods, and adventures.
